Back in 1981 Ian Dix saw an opportunity to establish a range of high quality, Australain made tents, camper trailers and general canvas products. As an avid camper in the Australian bush Ian found himself struggling to find equipment suitable and durable enough to meet the wide range of circumstances his camping tours encountered. Most tents and camping products of the time were imported and were manufactured from light weight canvas and fittings to reduce prices - and of course the overall quality suffered.

And so Ian founded Southern Cross Canvas to manufacture tents and campers to his exacting standards learned through personal experience.

Since then, Southern Cross Canvas has developed to become one of the most recognisable, well known and respected manufacturers in the Australian leisure equipment industry. Underpinned by the company's vision to supply only the best product it leads in setting the standards for quality, service and workmanship throughout the industry.

Southern Cross Canvas forward rapidly with the introduction of new models in the range of campers, tents and accessories – all still made in Australia with Australian materials and workers - a team of dedicated staff, many of whom have been with the company for more than 10 years.
